too much stuff

I've decided to get rid of lots of stuff I own that has no possible use in my life now. I've started in my clothes closet. Old purses that I like but never use -out. Shoes - out. Well, except the cool boots and 1960's fancy madras espadrilles with wedge heels (haha).

I've already taken one bunch of clothes to the resale shop. There are lots more I can take. Or just give away. I mean, who takes their clothes to the cleaners in prep for the resale shop??? I would rather just give them away. I just want to be living in a house that is not, under the surface (think closets and drawers), just a holding place for a past life.

I'm a bit of a hoarder. A square of cardboard? Must save. Why?? I won't use it and if I ever ever ever by some unforseen event need a piece of cardboard, I can go buy one. Boxes, pads of paper, old magazines, old t-shirts, and especially old blue jeans - saving them is a very annoying habit. If I ever fit in those jeans again, they will be sooo out of style!

Old pillow, old blankets, old sheets, old sweaters that I love and fit and look nice but haven't worn in years, old files (who cares what my scores were on the sats and gres??), scrapbooking crap (should give to my niece), omg, the boxes of old photos, two gigantic boxes of hotel pads, old Christmas cards, a paper grocery bag full of pantyhose (haha), sandals that are cute and fit but that I never wear, 3 adorable pairs of dress shoes that I could gets lots of $$ from at the resale shop- I could go on.

I have gone thru my house in the past and taken truckloads to the Good Will and Salvation Army centers, so why do I still have all this stuff? All I do is re-organize it periodically instead of getting rid of it.

I will keep my huge pile of old flute music, just in case I ever decide to become a flautist for real. (have the flute, the one I got in 4th grade and have had reconditioned twice already). :P:P
